Are you ready for a bigger challenge? We are currently looking for a press secretary/spokesperson for the communications unit in the Stockholm police region who wants to help shape the image of the police's work.
With us, you will work with various media issues alongside engaged colleagues in an environment where we are constantly in the spotlight. You will develop and gain lifelong experiences in both strategic matters and pure spokesperson assignments, while your work contributes to increasing safety and reducing crime in Sweden.
The communication in the Stockholm police region is responsible for proactively directing and coordinating the region's communication efforts and providing strategic and operational communication support to the entire region. Communication in the Stockholm police region occurs in close collaboration with other police regions, the national communications department, and is part of the Police Authority's overall communication. The communications unit in the Stockholm police region is now looking for a press secretary/spokesperson.
Job Description
As a press secretary, you and your colleagues will be responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on media work. You will coordinate and manage press contacts and media issues and support the organization in its relationship with the media. Daily tasks vary based on the needs of the organization and the media pressure. You must have the ability to quickly grasp complex issues, have a high work capacity, and enjoy delivering under pressure. The role of spokesperson also includes being the spokesperson for the authority in operational matters at our command center as part of our rolling planning.
Main responsibilities:
- Prepare materials and write talking points
- Support and coach managers and spokespersons during media contacts
- Proactively communicate the authority's work
- Plan and conduct press conferences and media activities in relevant channels
- Receive and handle incoming calls from the media
- Write and publish news on the police's website
- Act as spokesperson in operational matters
- Monitor the environment with analysis
- Lead communication efforts during special events
- Assist in the communications department's other work
The job requires presence during inconvenient working hours and readiness.
Qualifications
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Education that the Police Authority deems relevant for the position
- Experience in strategic media work
- Experience working with crisis communication
- Excellent ability to express yourself in speech and writing
For this position, Swedish citizenship is required.
Meritorious
We consider it meritorious if you also have:
- Experience advising management, decision-makers, or other spokespersons on media issues
- Experience as a spokesperson
- Experience working in public service/authority
- Knowledge of or experience in police operations
- Experience in communication work on social media
- Experience working with sensitive material

To be successful and thrive in the role of spokesperson, you need to work in a planned and long-term manner while being able to quickly shift focus to work on current issues here and now. The work places high demands on your ability to handle a fast pace and make balanced decisions even under pressure.
